Science Fair Highlights Unique Partnership Between Elementary Schools and USC Students

What:
The USC Health Sciences Campus Health and Science Expo is an annual project designed to encourage participating elementary school children to think about healthy lifestyles and how science is a part of everyday life. The Expo gives the children from area elementary schools an opportunity to interact with college health sciences students, to learn more about careers in the health professions and to design and implement a science project with the assistance of their peers.
Who:
Participants include:
- More than 400 fifth-grade students from Griffin Avenue, Murchison Street and Sheridan Street Elementary Schools
- More than twenty USC students (undergraduate and graduate level) who have worked with the elementary students during the past five weeks on these science projects
- Members of the USC Health Sciences faculty and staff (participating as judges)
