Heat Safety

October 12, 2007

As Southern California braces for a heat wave, experts at USC are available to answer questions about the potential health effects. They can provide information and expert advice on a number of topics, including skin care, the dangers for elderly residents and staying hydrated during outdoor activity.

Skin Care:

Han Lee, M.D., assistant professor of clinical dermatology and director of dermatologic surgery and cutaneous oncology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, specializes in treatment of skin cancer.

Elder Care:

Wayne Chen, M.D., assistant professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, specializes in geriatric medicine. Also serves as director of the USC Home Visit Program that provides specialized geriatric care for homebound seniors.

Keeping Hydrated:

Robert Girandola, Ed.D., associate professor of kinesiology at the USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, specializes in exercise and nutrition.
